Management on Health, Safety, Security and the Environment (HSSE) is critical to the success of our operations.
Prevention of accidents and incidents is part of our core values and executed by our employees and contractors. We believe that accidents and injuries are avoidable. We are committed to achieving our target goal of zero incidents and are mindful of the environment we live in. We are determined to excel in a strongly rooted culture of safety and operational excellence.
We have therefore established rigorous standards and procedures for the management of HSSE. We will continuously ensure that our expectations are understood by every employee and contractor working on our sites.
We will comply with and, where possible, exceed the standards set by local laws and regulations. We will strive to ensure that industry best-practices are incorporated into our operations.
A special HSSE committee has been established to focus on HSSE.
Feldtank Services B.V has aggressive targets supported by a strategy and global operating standards that ensure our business remains an industry leader in safety performance.
We do have a Global Operational Standards - Safety (GOSS) for the management of safe efficient operations. In addition to protecting our workforce, effectively managing safety risks supports our reputation, improves financial returns, strengthens stakeholder confidence, and increases our competitive advantage.
These standards assist all managers in delivering on our expectations to protect: our people, our property and equipment, our customers and their cargo, our business partners, and the community. They form part of an overall safety management framework for our facilities to align their local safety processes.
Core Elements
The framework contains four core elements that drive improved performance by assisting managers to focus on business-critical issues.
Operational Risks
We have identified five common fatality-potential risks: transportation, Suspended Loads and Lifting, working at heights, Stored Energy and Control of Contractors. To eliminate fatalities, we have established minimum controls in each of these five critical areas known as the Fatal 5.
Leadership & Culture
Overcoming the difficulties and obstacles to achieving a safety performance takes a great deal of effort from our senior and line managers. This element of the strategy develops and promotes active safety leadership and empowerment through accountability.
Technology & Innovation
The introduction of new technologies and innovation is as a key element in safe guarding our people and equipment.
Capability & Learning
While line management is accountable for safety, we also have well trained and dedicated HSSE professionals who provide constructive advice and support to our managers.
